Acts 3: Miracles, Signs, and Wonders

Scripture
Acts 3:1–10

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.

When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Scripture Reflection

In this Eastertide season, we celebrate the unstoppable life of the risen Christ, flowing through His Church in miracles, signs, and wonders. Peter and John had no money for the lame beggar, but they had something better — the authority of Jesus and the power of His Spirit. With simple faith, they spoke healing, lifted the man up, and watched resurrection power transform his legs and his life.

Miracles are never an end in themselves. They point to the name of Jesus. They testify that He is alive, that His Kingdom is breaking in, that the impossible is possible because He reigns. In times of revival, God often confirms His word with signs and wonders, awakening awe, breaking chains, and opening hearts to the gospel.

We, too, are invited to live with expectant faith — to carry the name of Jesus into broken places, to look beyond what people think they need, and to offer them the resurrection power of Christ. God still loves to heal. God still loves to surprise. God still loves to amaze.

May we be a people who do not shrink back from praying bold prayers, who dare to say, “What I have, I give you,” and who point to the risen Jesus through every miracle He grants.

Praying it UP / IN / OUT

UP: Worship Jesus as the risen, powerful One, whose name still brings healing and freedom.

IN: Ask the Spirit to increase your faith and boldness to pray for miracles, and to break any fear of disappointment.

OUT: Intercede for New England to be marked by miracles, signs, and wonders that awaken faith and glorify Jesus, especially among those who do not yet believe.

Closing Prayer

Living Jesus,

You are still the Healer, the Miracle Worker, the One whose name is above every name. We praise You for Your resurrection power that transforms bodies, hearts, and lives.

Teach us to walk in faith, to pray boldly, to carry Your name with confidence. Forgive us for small prayers and timid hopes. Make us a people who expect Your wonders.

Stretch out Your hand, Lord. Heal the sick, break chains, raise up the broken, and let awe and wonder fill Your Church again, for the glory of your Name.

Amen.
