Isaiah 62: Watchmen on the Walls
Scripture
Isaiah 62:6–7
“I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.”
Scripture Reflection
God is calling for watchmen in New England — men and women who will take their place in prayer and stay alert in the Spirit, interceding and contending for His promises until they are fulfilled.
We do not need to convince or arm-wrestle God — He already desires His church to be a praise in the earth. But God has always looked for men and women who carry His heart, who lay hold of His promises, who pray these promises back to him. He loves to hear His will and desires echoed back to Him through human voices. As Wesley said, “God does nothing except in answer to prayer.”
So God is looking — even waiting — for watchmen who will call upon Him, who will pray His promises back to Him, who will give themselves and Him no rest until He makes His people a praise in the earth.
We are invited into this sacred calling: to keep watch with Jesus until the glory of God manifests on the earth.
Praying it UP / IN / OUT
UP: Worship Jesus as the One who keeps covenant and invites us to partner with Him in prayer.
IN: Pray for renewed endurance in your own intercession. Ask the Spirit to strengthen you with persistence, especially where you feel weary.
OUT: Pray for the raising up of new watchmen across New England — men and women who will carry the burden of prayer for their towns, cities, campuses, and churches.
Closing Prayer
Lord, You have always worked through those who wait on You — who stand steady and steadfast between heaven and earth, lifting Your promises back to You in faith.
We hear Your invitation to be watchmen in this hour, to carry Your burden, to pray Your heart, to contend until Your glory breaks through.
Teach us to keep watch with Jesus.
Make us alert in the Spirit — sober, steadfast, faithful.
Let our prayers echo Your promises. Let our longings mirror Your desires.
You do not need convincing, but You have chosen to act through prayer. So we say yes.
Yes to standing on the wall.
Yes to giving ourselves no rest.
Yes to being awake in a sleepy age.
Let the Church in New England become a praise in the earth. Until it does - teach us to watch and pray.
Amen.
