John 15: Fruit That Remains
25th Week After Pentecost
Scripture
John 15:16 (NIV)
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit — fruit that will last — and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
Scripture Reflection
Jesus reminds us that we have been chosen and appointed not only to bear fruit, but to bear lasting fruit. Revival is not measured by momentary passion alone, but by enduring transformation — the kind of fruit that reshapes lives, families, churches, and communities for generations.
Revival seasons may be brief, but their harvest blesses nations and cultures long after the wave has passed. Throughout history, revival movements have sparked long-lasting fruit: the abolitionist movement, the formation of the United States, the North American global missions movement, literacy initiatives, the temperance movement, the founding of schools and universities, and countless social reforms rooted in biblical justice and compassion. These are testimonies of how God’s Spirit can change not only hearts but also the course of human history.
As we pray for revival in New England, let us ask God to build works that endure, to spark conversions that grow into lifelong discipleship, and to raise up churches and movements that leave a legacy of faith for the next generation.
Praying it UP / IN / OUT
UP: Praise God for His sovereign choice and for appointing us to fruitful, lasting ministry that shapes history.
IN: Pray for a heart committed to deep, sustainable spiritual fruit in your own life and family.
OUT: Intercede for the Church in New England to focus on lasting transformation rather than temporary enthusiasm — that true disciples would be made, and generational blessing released.
Closing Prayer
Lord of the harvest,
Thank You for choosing us and appointing us to bear fruit that lasts. Forgive us for settling for shallow or short-lived results.
Plant our roots deep in You, so that everything we do flows from Your life and power. Strengthen the work of our hands so that generations to come will see and know Your faithfulness.
Raise up disciples, churches, and movements across New England that will stand the test of time and bless nations and cultures — just as You have done through past revivals. Let the next wave of Your Spirit bring a harvest of justice, compassion, education, missions, and Kingdom transformation.
May we be faithful stewards of what You entrust to us, for Your glory and for the sake of those who come after us.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
