SURRENDER is our SUPERPOWER

As the days grow darker, it becomes increasingly apparent that the ways of Christ are not compatible with the ways of this world. Many of the laws of the Kingdom of God are quite opposite to what has been long embraced as “law” in the natural realm. For example, the world believes that the more you give, the less you have; while the Lord teaches us that it is more blessed to give than to receive and to those who are faithful with little, much will be given. The world teaches us that achievement, progress and success are accessible through striving, working harder and doing more; while Jesus shows us that resting and abiding in Him are the only ways to produce fruit. The world values strength and independence, while the Lord’s power can only be perfected in our weakness and only our dependence upon Him opens access to the supernatural, miraculous and seemingly impossible.

When Jesus walked the earth - leading, modeling and teaching His disciples the ways of the Kingdom - His every thought, word and deed was initiated by submission to His Father in Heaven. He was sustained by intentionality of silence, seclusion and prayer, energized by the work He was given and only did or said what He “saw the Father doing.”

Jesus was the ultimate prophet, priest, teacher, shepherd, healer and miracle worker. He fulfilled His mission as Savior and Messiah, satisfying God ‘s judgment against humanity, proclaiming “not my will, but Yours be done” unto complete at the cross. Now ascended to the Right Hand of God, He still lives to make intercession for us in the Heavens… the greatest mediator and intercessor of all time.

As born-again believers in Jesus Christ, we have been given the right, privilege and responsibility to live, collectively, as His Body on the earth, until He returns. Following His perfect example, we must walk as He did, YIELDING to the Holy Spirit in all our ways, so that HE may WILL and WORK within us for HIS good pleasure. Just as the early Apostles and Believers were remarkably transformed and empowered by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, we too must be fully dependent on His power to supersede our own.

As we embark on the new calendar year, may our resolution be to TRUST Him more completely, SURRENDER more fully, and YIELD more readily…that through our humble obedience we might MAKE WAY for the KING OF GLORY to come in.
